Markus Schober has been working as an incident response consultant and manager for IBM X-Force IRIS (Incident Response & Intelligence Services), where he helps various organizations respond to cyber-attacks on a daily basis. He is also responsible for building realistic exercise scenarios, attack simulations and wargames for Fortune 500 clients. He originally started his 15+ year career in the technical services industry with an apprenticeship as an electronics engineer in Austria, and later pursued a Master’s degree in computer science. Markus worked as a full stack software developer for several years before moving to the United States, where he became a consultant for a startup in the incident response space. This start-up was later acquired by IBM, which eventually lead him to his role today. Markus holds GCFA, GCIH and CISSP certifications. His passion is to play through blue team / red team scenarios to showcase realistic cyber events and to share his lessons learned in DFIR with the hope of attracting more people to enter the industry.
